I first put my trust in Jesus Christ when I was in third grade. I knew then that God gave me a new life of hope, and after being in ministry for more than a few years, I can now say with great confidence that God is still in the business of changing lives.
My first priority is to grow in the grace and knowledge of my Savior. Developing spiritual disciplines and accountable relationships is important to me. My Christian witness involves transparency as I honestly seek and struggle to put Jesus first.
My family is important to me too. Annette and I have been married for 14 years, and we have two boys and a girl, ages 13, 10, and 6, respectively. They’re a lot of fun, really!
My perspective on church stuff:
-
The clear priority and great joy of the church is our commission to make disciples. Evangelism brings everything else into focus. This often means practical change; and it always means personal sacrifice.
-
Prayer is the best indicator of church health. Oswald Chambers was right in saying, “Prayer does not equip us for greater works--Prayer is the greater work.“
-
Jesus didn’t pray in vain in John 17 for His followers to be a united witness. When we work together in love for the sake of the gospel, God always gets the glory! I strive for unity in Christ: for true doctrine, for true fellowship, for true purpose.
-
I believe the role of a Pastor is to guard, feed, lead, love, and care for the congregation as the Under-Shepherd for the Great Shepherd’s flock. The overall task of a Pastor is to equip fellow believers to build the church through service, until we receive all the fullness in Christ (Eph 4:11-13). What a glorious challenge!
