About Our Church

If you’re looking for some honest, loving Christians to meet you where you’re at and walk with you on “your way to Jesus”, we can help.

But we are not for just anyone.

If you’re looking for a large church, we are not it.  While we’re growing, we’re a small group of folks who genuinely know and love one another.

If you’re looking for a loud and flashy worship, we’re not it.  Our worshippers enjoy a variety of styles, old and new, and we feel free to communicate with God through any means that makes it real and relevant to us.

If you’re looking for a full blown youth and children’s program, complete with musicals, choirs, and weekday clubs, I’m afraid we’re not it either.  The stuff we offer kids is intergrated into a wholistic, family- oriented ministry.  We focus on real relationships and don't overschedule.

If you’re looking for a church full of rules, I’m glad to say we’re not it.  Our focus is to serve one another in the name of Christ.  Our sermons are biblical and our leaders are sound doctrinally, but  moreover we’re strong in our concern for one another.   You’ve proabably heard Outback’s slogan, “No Rules. Just Right.”

If you are looking for a group of perfect people, we’ll freely inform you that we are not it.  Like our NA and AA groups that meet here, we are all people in recovery from sin, and we are all at different places along the way.  The main thing is that we found forgiveness and new life in Jesus, and we offer that to everyone.

If you’re looking for a group of real people engaged in following Jesus personally, stop in and get to know us.  We love to study and apply God’s Word seriously, and we love to laugh together along the way. We’d really love to meet you.

Statement of Beliefs

Our Doctrine

Statement of Faith

Preamble: In accordance with the historic Baptist tradition, we hold to Believers Baptism by Immersion, Liberty of Conscience, the Separation of Church and State, and the Priesthood of the Believer. We also affirm the following distinctives which need emphasis at the present time:

I. The Authority of Scripture: The Bible is the inspired, authoritative and infallible Word of God and is our sole rule of faith and practice. It is the standard by which all human conduct and creeds should be tried.

II. The Trinity: There is only one true and living God who is manifested in three eternal and coequal persons; Father, Son and Holy Spirit. God possesses holiness, omnipotence, omniscience, omnipresence, love, mercy, and all other perfections. All humankind owes to Him supreme faith and obedience.

III. Humankind: Humankind has been created in the image of God but through Adam's fall is now sinful, lost and condemned. By deliberate choice all participate in sin, which is open rebellion to God's law. Notwithstanding the fall, all human life through creation has value and dignity.

IV. Justification by Faith: Human beings can be forgiven of sin and justified solely through the redeeming work of Jesus Christ who died for sinners and rose again from the dead. Only by repentance from sin and faith in Jesus Christ the Lord can acceptance with God be attained.

V. Regeneration: Regeneration is the work of the Holy Spirit by which the believer receives a new nature from God. Christian growth or sanctification is the continuation of the new life principle which begins in the new birth.

VI. The Church: The church in its widest sense includes all believers of all ages. The church is manifested visibly in the local body of baptized believers who covenant together to worship, observe the ordinances, and evangelize.

VII. Human Destiny: Jesus Christ will eventually return visibly at which time He will raise the dead and judge all people. Believers will enjoy an eternal state of blessedness in heaven while unbelievers will experience eternal separation from God in hell.

VIII. Evangelism and Social Concern: The church has been called to preach the gospel so that individual people can receive salvation. Also the church is to become involved in the improvement of society by advocating Biblical principles which militate against poverty, racism, violence, and all forms of injustice against humankind.

IX. Human Sexuality: God's design is that man and woman either be joined together in a perpetual monogamous relationship or live in a single state. Extra-marital sex, adultery and homosexuality are inconsistent with biblical teaching.

Church History

Our History

  • In 1966, the American Baptist Churches in Michigan wanted a church in the Swartz Creek area.  Our first service was held on April 2nd 1967, at what was once the old Hill Road School with 24 persons in attendance.

  • On April 28th 1968, our first baptismal service was held.

  • In 1970, the building of a new church began, finalizing in time for Easter service, 1971.  The old, original church was destroyed by lightning in July of 1985.

  • Today's church sits on 5 acres of a 80 acre tract of farmland.  While we have recently remodeled the bulding, we are focused on transforming lives through the grace of Jesus.  We emphasize authentic relationships, recovery ministries, and community involvement.
